NestEgg is an independent reference site for retirement planning and financial independence (FIRE). Free retirement & FIRE calculators with the real 2026 IRS limits built in.

What we do

We build fast, free retirement and FIRE calculators and pair each one with a clear, plain-English explanation of the math behind it. The contribution limits we cite come straight from the IRS, and every calculator runs entirely in your browser — your numbers are never sent to a server.

How we work

Each calculator uses standard, published formulas: the 25x rule for FIRE, present-value discounting for Coast FIRE, future-value compounding for investment growth, and an inflation-adjusted drawdown for the 4% rule. The 2026 figures (401(k), IRA and catch-up limits, Roth phase-outs) are taken from IRS Notice 2025-67 (2026 retirement plan limits).
